Our mission
The Common Health Coalition is a first-of-its-kind collaboration spanning clinician groups, health departments, hospitals, payers, and community organizations.
By uniting leaders who rarely share the same table, we turn alignment into action at a scale no single sector can reach alone and transform relationships into results for people and communities.
Our Story
Founded in 2023 by the Alliance of Community Health Plans, AHIP, the American Hospital Association, the American Medical Association, and Kaiser Permanente, the Coalition now represents hundreds of members across nearly every state and territory in the U.S.
CARE framework
Health care and public health institutions responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by forging novel, impactful partnerships. Organizations established formal agreements for information- and resource-sharing, developed and deployed emergency response plans, shared data more readily, and demonstrated the lifesaving function of infectious disease detection systems.
The Common Health Coalition was formed to cement these crisis-driven strategies into existing infrastructure and strengthen partnership between health care and public health systems, particularly to advance health equity, using our CARE framework.
Our approach
The Coalition serves its members as a national mobilizer, matchmaker, and megaphone, working to translate the lessons learned from past health crises into lessons mobilized for non-crisis times.
